There are some movies you don't get to know through trailers and overwhelming marketing outbursts. There are these which spread by the word of mouth. And believe me that's the best way to get trustworthy reviews unlike reading some review on line on some random blog you came across via the Facebook feed including the one you are reading now. Yes yes, it's #Humility.
So, to be frank outright, there isn't much of a storyline in this movie. But surprisingly you don't really care when you start to feel involved in the swing of things. This movie is about the inevitability of death, of grief and everything else which follows. And more importantly this is also about the inevitability of rising thereupon. From the ashes of grief to the transformation like the phoenix. Resurrection.
Movie portrays two lifelines simultaneously which interlink beautifully by the smallest of possible ways but with colossal relevance symbolically. One is a naive girl who's first intimate experience goes really wrong. And then there are always amoral opportunists waiting for you to get vulnerable. They are always ready to pounce on you like a predator. But she comes out strong and inspirational. And beautifully carried throughout by Richa Chadda. She will go places!
Talking of great performances, Sanjay Mishra also deserves a big round of applause. He plays father to that girl and that one scene where they share the grief of her mother's death is just brilliant. The other story revolves around the difficulties of love when Romeo and Juliet are separated by social constructs like Castes and classes. And the most difficult dark which one might face. The death of the beloved. That follows utter grief, the urgency to stand up again and finding that spirit of life again. All of this has been wonderfully exhibited in the movie. This in addition to the wonderful music and the icing on the the cake which goes like "Mann Kasturi re....."
Go, dissolve yourself in grief and come out stronger.
