Their world too

The fog was still strong enough to prevent the sunlight from breaking in. The hazel shades of kitchen garden appeared to be still asleep under the blurry white covers. Through my window, I could see the freshly harvested Papayas kept on the porch by our Mali.

Out of nowhere, a bird appeared and sat on the stands next to the Papayas. It surveyed all directions for possible dangers. The movements looked perfectly choreographed. As it started pecking, the instincts wanted me to go outside and retrieve. But I simply couldn't move and just kept watching. It was a beautiful sight. This is their world too, I pondered. Hope the papaya was sweet.
