It's their India too

Facts say that around 4000 students from North-East come to Delhi every year to pursue college education and employment. If you are a resident of Delhi near the University Campuses then you will promptly agree. Besides these residential areas, they are very popular in shops and malls looking for beautiful and courteous associate buyers and attendants.

Now the plight of these extremely fair north-eastern Indians is that local people see them as a different breed altogether. They call them 'Chinky' .They make fun of them , tease the girls, avoid socializing with them and what not.The girls are often at the recieving end. Some Hindu extremists put the blaim on them for their lifestyles and dressing sense.Such extremists should be hanged upside down and spanked for eternity.Ergo these communities keep a low profile and keep it to themselves. They prefer not to mingle with the local crowd who on the other hand cannot stop staring and smirking. All this eventually leads to forced conservatism, racism and hatred.

We raise our voices so high when we hear or read about racial comments or attacks on our relatives or fellow Indians in other countries specially in the U.S and Australia. We criticize the government officials for not taking necessary actions. But aren't we doing the same thing to these people from North-East? Don't they deserve to be treated normally ?

This might not concern us and we might not understand the seriousness of their plight. But it does affect them in a big way. And our normal behaviour towards them might mean so much to them.Through that only, they will feel at home. It's their India too.

P.S. I think most of us are just jealous.Of their beautiful hair ,flawless skin and sparkling complexion :D

Thank you very much for drawing attention for discriminating behavior of north Indians towards of our own fellow Indians. Better you should raise this through print media, because the attention of masses is required.

Seriously ....same reaction for muslims i get from many people... it's so low an opinion... why don't people understand that we are all are only human !

These races and religions were framed by humans only because they wanted the world to follow what they believed. The concept of free world is not possible with the existance of religion.

Would like to share something.... over the couple of days i have observed a unique thing about these people from North-East... while getting down from the rickshaws and after paying the puller ...they smile and say "Shukriya!".

How many of us(racist indians) do that?

Nice be, i believe most of the racism, religionism that our fellow Indians partake in is due to their own insecurity as per their social status. Making fun of others and blaming anyone who is different makes them feel a stalwart of their own 'community' and unless other members of their community rebuke them over this behavior, it will not be easy to get rid of.
