Stage was all set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Women's Day in New Delhi. The day before the grandeur was to be spread, the newspapers were full of events and facilitation functions to be organised for women from various fields.Looking at the large scale celebrations planned for the day, one might say that the seeds of emancipation of women sown by various visionaries like Raja Ram Mohan Rai, were full grown trees now.And certainly these trees had the vision of making evergreen forests out in the arid soil owned by men.
But the auspicious day was marked by the cold-blooded murder of a 20-year old girl by an obsessed jackass in day light at the heart of the city. The guy had been stalking the girl for two-three years and was beaten up earlier his acts. But his one-sided love was too much for him to give up.And ultimately frustrated, he decided to end 'her' life in the name of true love. Now these kind of people think it's the love that drives them to such unprecedented levels of insanity. They are the ones who pollute such a beautiful word.Rather its always lust.Love cannot end in an act of violence at the beloved.
Now the thing to note here is the ease with which he gets the weapon for the killing.Just goes to some black street and sheds just 2000 bucks. Is it that easy these days? That very little amount, is the value of a innocent human life? Where was the law and order when he obtained the weapon? Where was law and order when he shot her from point blank in day light ?
Just by catching hold of the murderer does not mean that they have done their part. They will have to take answer our questions and address the concerns. It's a shame that at the dawn of 100th anniversary of IWD, an obsessed murderer has reminded the nation that our women are not safe.As the white tiger would say,'what a fucking joke!'

I really don't agree that this incident has anything to do with IWD. An ignorant yet wrongly passionate mind has decided to commit a henious act. we dont have Minority Report kinda futuristic means to avoid the future crimes by digging anyone's grey cells.
India is a place where an elderly couple gets brutally murdered in the daylight. At the sametime, somewhere in the rural part, a woman is molested by the powerful guys. Do you really think having a IWD is by any way going to reduce or stop such things.
To hell with IWD, we want ppl
(not just women) to feel safe all 365 days of the year.
TRUE:(
@Sid da
Who said it's linked with IWD.Was just a coincidence.A bad One.
And yes we need a Womens day. Most of the crimes are against women.Women have been dominated since ages.We need to celebrate the small steps of emancipation. We need to aware people of the hard shifts of a womens life. It's necessary.
As childern's day was an excellent marketing gimmick to score brownie points by Pdt. Nehru, Women's day is another attempt by the page3 wannabes and other socialites like Shabanas and Arundhatis. Take an instance of Nitish Kumar, he is trying real hard to make the difference where it actually matters.
IWD celebration will not bring an iota of difference in the lives of needy women. A few days ago, a poor girl died as she ate something out of garbage and the shards of glass cut her throat. Did IWD celebrations took notice of thousand such activities. NO, they never did, even media was too busy in knowing what Rakhi Sawant thinks about IWD.
Let's contibute daily without fail to the causes that actually matter.
Eventually it all boils down to perceptions ....if you want to see something making a difference, you will. And it will.
I would anyway appriciate the efforts of the page3 wannabes. At least they are doing 'SOMETHING'.
There is no hatred amongst anyone's heart for the acts of page3 wannabes. This SOMETHING can be done from behind the drapes.
Anyways, this SOMETHING is any day better than doing nothing.
I am sure that the guilt of doing nothing is forcing many a people to do SOMETHING these days.
And with such huge population, all SOMETHINGs combined might be of some use :D I hope, atleast!
Sure, at least we can hope for this. On our part, I wouldn't say we are doing nothing, we are doing are part as well by paying taxes to govt. and time and again to the NGOs.
Yes. Paying taxes honestly, that's a big help to the govt.
Those who earn millions in black are a shame though. And unfortunetly these non-planned forms about 92%.
