Happy New Year

Just another day it was,
with the same old story,
without any glory,
and the ordinary me.
Just another day,
with the same old sun,
that cute little breeze,
and that all blue sky.
Just another day it was!

But there was something to it,
with all the energy,
that irrational exuberance,
zest to recuperate in those who fell before,
there was so much more to it,
with all the smiles and wishes,
celebration and kisses,
the promises and resolutions,
A new beginning, a new day and a new year.

This year lets pledge,
to be honest with ourselves
and to others,
to help those in need,
to care, to love and to spread joy!
