Why do we lie?
Sometimes we do it to save our ourselves from some kind of anticipated embarrassment, sometimes to make us look good and sometimes to help someone else. Well somehow you can't escape the truth. These lies are like that boom-rang which we played with in childhood. It comes back to you sometime in the future and stabs you in your ass and what follows is utter embarrassment. So let me get this straight, we lied to avoid embarrassment but what ultimately happened was even worse.
What I feel is even worse than the embarrassment is the trust that is destroyed. Your words become less credible to people who witnessed your matinee show exposing your lies. Trust is something which might take ages to build up but it just takes a split second of stupidity to hamper everything that we created so far.
Sometimes though we are not even conscious of our lies. But I guess that is just a lame defence. We should have the control over what we speak. Lies might glitter up your grandeur and give instant gratification but surely is the long run, there is no going back. Someday or the other you will have to face it. The truth. And that is when you will realize that there is nothing more insulting and devastating than these costly lies.
